Saving Rainforest 1000 Acre Challenge
At BioTravel we understand the problems that have been attributed to the production of biodiesel from Palm plantations that have taken the place of rainforests on a devastating scale. As well as making sure our biodiesel is sourced and produced in a sustainable way, we have also started purchasing Brazilian rainforest to ensure it protection and prevent deforestation and subsequent species annihilation. We are purchasing the forest bit by bit and our end goal is to save 1000 acres. We are purchasing the rainforest through the World Land Trust which is championed by Sir David Attenborough. Purchasing rainforest is quick and easy to do so why don't you give it a try?
Wind Turbine
BioTravel is in the process of installing a small wind turbine to charge a battery bank that will power our biodiesel pump and biodiesel heater as well as our pressure washer and the lighting for our vehicle site. We have been searching for the turbine that fits our needs and now believe that we have found one and will be installing it this spring.
Rain Water Collection
BioTravel is installing a rain water collection system to harness water for vehicle washing. This involves channeling water from the barn roofs and containing it in in vessels around our yard. The system that we have purchased is based on a simple home system with larger containers.
